Here is the flyer we created for Academies. Think of these like college majors at the high school level. Requirements within each academy include specific coursework, extracurricular involvement, and culminating projects; in addition, students will take field trips and connect with real live people who work in career areas associated with the academy.

Brian Connell

Brian Connell is a teacher and high school administrator who lives in Birmingham, AL. He attended the University of Vermont, where he studied English and Music, and the University of Georgia, where he earned his M.Ed. in Educational Administration and Policy. He taught English for 13 years--3 at his alma mater, St. Joseph's Prep in Philadelphia, PA, and 10 at Athens Academy in Athens, GA. He is currently the Assistant Principal of John Carroll Catholic High School. He and his wife, Kristen Iskandrian, have two daughters, Beatrice and Simone.
